"To all those who are considering doing the Expedition Medicine Course - do it!

It is a fantastic opportunity to learn practical expedition skills, meet people of similar interest, teach first aid skills and above all have a lot of fun!

I participated in the 2006 course held at Bronte Park in central Tasmania as part of my Expedition Medicine term as a GP registrar. My role was mostly as a participant with a little teaching of practical skills. There was a great mix of people including professional wilderness guides teaching doctors outdoor skills and doctors teaching medical skills. There was a strong emphasis on the practical with numerous elaborate scenarios to test our skills. There is a bar at Bronte, need I say more...

The skills I learnt on this course have assisted in planning my own 'expedition' to cycle back from the UK overland to Australia this year. So if you are looking to learn new skills, meet new people and have some fun, go for it!
